Living Your Best Life Now"I have been receiving Leap Coaching for approximately one year. I could write all manner of nonspecific glowing statements about self-improvement, personal growth and development, and other overused vernacular. It wasn't about that for me. It didn't catapult me into self-empowered high-energy mode. I didn't actualize into an efficient machine of community service and model citizen. I...uh...ended up climbing mountains, walking on water and dismissing tumbleweeds."
...excerpted from Walk on Water: How to Make Change Easier The above quote is part of a letter I often ask coaching clients to write when they have completed coaching with me. I call it their 'success letter' and I ask them: How has coaching contributed to living your best life now? In this case, Stephanie wrote a success letter that inspired the title of my book! One reason is because her story is so inspiring: Stephanie was a baker and caterer living in rural New Hampshire when she embarked upon coaching. Even though Stephanie was very successful in her business, she still hungered to be living a more authentic life, which is part of what it means to be living your best life now. After completing coaching, Stephanie (who was in her mid-life years) picked up her whole life, dog and all, and moved out West to start working on a dude ranch. She's now a full time horse wrangler, living the life of her dreams! What will it take for you to start living your best life now? You might need to pick up some new skills. Maybe it's just a matter of confidence? Perhaps you don't quite know how to tap into your innate wisdom at its source? Living your best life now is about going for what you want in life. Finding out what that is and how to get there is a journey of discovery, just as Stephanie described. A big part of living my best life now was deciding to go to India to study meditation with the Meditation Masters of the Himalayas. Even though I had two small children, I was compelled to take the time and make the trip. Eventually, my whole family followed. Make no mistake, it wasn't easy. There were a lot of nay-sayers and obstacles to overcome but the rewards were enormous. To this day, my children are grateful that they had the opportunity to experience a different culture at an early age, giving them a vastly different perspective from their peers as they were growing up. My son was exposed to art classes in the community where we were living and they helped to boost his confidence and self-image. He eventually studied computer art, which led to his present career working in the field of virtual reality modeling. My daughter is studying to be a naturopathic physician. She has incorporated what she learned in meditation, breathing techniques, and eastern philosophy to help her clients live their best life now. As for me, I'm living my best life now as a professional coach who gets to share what I've learned and am learning daily with others through individual and group coaching and through my book. I've even had the great good fortune to be asked to develop a coach training curriculum based on the book, called Mastering Change, for CoachVille (www.masteringchange.coachville.com). In the Mastering Change classes I get to participate with learners from all over the world in discussions and activities that help them to make the journey to live their best life now. Be bold and take the leap! When we are at the end of life it's the things we didn't do that we often regret the most. I invite you to take the journey now by working through the workbook format of Walk on Water: How to Make Change Easier. There are also group classes and individual programs available throughout the year to help you overcome inertia and stay inspired. Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, you are at the perfect place to take the first step.
